Sacred History & Legend

Grishneshwar is the last of the twelve Jyotirlingas and stands in the village of Verul near the Ellora caves. The present temple was rebuilt in the eighteenth century by Ahilyabai Holkar of Indore. The sanctum is entered by men without upper garments as per tradition, and the temple is a stop for pilgrims who also visit Ellora and Ajanta.
