The Mahalakshmi Temple of Kolhapur is counted among the Shakti Peeths and is known as Ambabai Mandir. It is among the oldest temples in Maharashtra, and the Goddess is believed to have lived here to bless her devotees. Devotees come from across the state for Navratri, when the Goddess is taken in a palanquin procession through the city.
