Sacred History & Legend

Trimbakeshwar is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas and stands at the foot of the Brahmagiri hills, where the Godavari river rises. The lingam is distinct because it has three faces symbolising Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. The town is also known for Narayan Nagbali and Kalsarpa rituals, and the Simhastha Kumbh Mela is held at Nashik and Trimbak once in twelve years.

Architectural Highlights

A black-stone temple in the Nagara style built in the eighteenth century, with a carved shikhara and a kund called Kushavarta.
