Sacred History & Legend

Srisailam is one of the few places that is both a Jyotirlinga and a Shakti Peeth. Lord Shiva is worshipped as Mallikarjuna and the Goddess as Bhramaramba, in neighbouring shrines within the temple complex. The temple stands on the Nallamala hills above the Krishna river, and the road passes through a tiger reserve forest.
